TicketsCandy does not charge fees on cash POS payments, and Square does not charge processing fees, because the money passes directly from the customer to you.
However, if you choose to pass fees on to customers or add your own custom fee, those fees still apply to cash orders. These are sometimes called buyer fees, meaning the fees you choose to charge customers through your event’s Pass Fees On or Custom Fees setting.
Your POS fee setting determines what customers pay:
- Pass Fees On: The fee automatically calculated to cover TicketsCandy and Square costs remains included in the order, even when the customer pays cash.
- Custom Fees: The custom fee you configured remains included in the order, including cash payments.
- Absorb Fees: No fee is added to the customer’s order.
For cash payments, the passed-on or custom fee you collect stays with you as additional revenue. TicketsCandy and Square do not deduct it or charge their own transaction fees on that cash sale. Applicable taxes still follow your tax settings.
Why do these fees still apply to cash orders? #
TicketsCandy applies your selected POS fee setting consistently across payment methods. Any passed-on or custom fee is included in the displayed price and does not disappear when the customer chooses cash.
This policy supports upfront pricing and compliance with rules that distinguish a general booking fee from an extra charge for paying by card. The fee applies to the purchase regardless of how the customer pays.
How can I stop adding fees to customer orders? #
Select Absorb Fees under Sell In-Person > POS Settings. This stops adding passed-on or custom fees to all POS orders, regardless of payment method. There is no separate option to remove them only for cash payments.
