Each event in TicketsCandy has its own payment settings that allow you to control how taxes, fees, and payment options are handled during checkout.
To access these settings:
- Open your Event Dashboard.
- Click Event Settings in the navigation menu.
- Select Payments.
The Payments page allows you to configure taxes, decide how processing and service fees are handled, and enable additional payment options for your event.
Taxes #
Use the Taxes section if you need to charge tax on ticket sales.
To enable taxes:
- Select Do you want to charge taxes?
- Enter the tax rate you want to apply.
- Enter the rate as a percentage. For example, enter 10 for a 10% tax rate.
The configured tax will then be applied to applicable ticket purchases.
Event organizers are responsible for determining the correct tax rate for their event and for reporting or remitting collected taxes as required.
Fees #
The Fees section controls how TicketsCandy fees, payment processing fees, and any organizer-added fees are handled for your event.
You can select only one fee option for an event:
- Pass Fees On
- Absorb Fees
- Custom Fees
These options do not work together. Selecting one option determines how fees are calculated for the event.
Pass Fees On #
This option is enabled by default.
When fees are passed to the ticket buyer, the required TicketsCandy and payment processing fees are added to the customer’s purchase price. This allows you to receive the ticket price you originally set after the applicable fees are deducted from the transaction.
In some locations, pricing laws require fees to be included in the displayed ticket price. When this applies, the option to pass fees separately may not be available.
Absorb Fees #
Choose this option if you want to cover the applicable TicketsCandy and payment processing fees yourself instead of adding them to the customer’s purchase.
The fees will be deducted from the transaction amount, which means the amount you receive will be lower than the ticket price you set.
Custom Fees #
Choose Custom Fees if you want to set your own fee percentage instead of using the standard Pass Fees or Absorb Fees options.
Enter the percentage you want to charge, and this custom fee will be applied to applicable purchases.
Because only one fee option can be selected, Custom Fees does not get added on top of the standard passed fees.
For example, if you want the buyer to cover the TicketsCandy fee, payment processing fee, and an additional organizer fee, you will need to set the custom fee high enough to cover all of these amounts together.
In this case, the custom fee should account for:
- TicketsCandy fees
- Payment processing fees
- Any additional fee you want to collect for your organization
Make sure to calculate your custom fee accordingly, since the standard Pass Fees to the Ticket Buyer option will no longer apply once Custom Fees is selected.
Pay at the Door #
Enable Pay at the Door if you want customers to reserve tickets online and pay for them later at the event instead of paying during checkout.
When this option is available, customers can complete the booking process without making an online card payment.
A connected Square merchant account is still required to use this feature, even though the payment itself is collected in person.
This option can be useful for events that accept payment at the entrance or want to allow customers to reserve their place in advance.
