Each event in TicketsCandy has its own ticket scanner settings that allow you to connect the TicketsCandy Scanner App and control when tickets can be used for check-in.
To access these settings:
- Open your Event Dashboard.
- Click Event Settings in the navigation menu.
- Select Ticket Scanner.
Customers automatically receive an e-ticket with a QR code after completing their purchase. You can scan this QR code at the event using the TicketsCandy Scanner App.
Download the Scanner App #
The TicketsCandy Scanner App is available for both iOS and Android devices.
After installing the app, you will need to connect it to your TicketsCandy account or event using one of the API keys available on this page.
Ticket Scanner API #
The Ticket Scanner page provides two types of API keys that can be used to connect the scanner app.
Event API Key #
The Event API Key connects the scanner app to one specific event.
Use this key when:
- The device should scan tickets for only one event.
- Different staff members or devices are assigned to different events.
Global API Key #
The Global API Key connects the scanner app to all events within your account.
Use this key if the same device needs to scan tickets across multiple events without reconnecting to each event separately.
Scanner App Settings #
The Scanner App Settings allow you to control when tickets become valid and when they stop being valid for scanning.
These settings are based on the ticket’s booking period and can help prevent customers from checking in too early or too late.
Ticket Scan Start Time #
The Ticket Scan Start Time controls how early a ticket can be scanned before its booking period begins.
You can choose from:
- Valid Anytime Before Booking Period – The ticket can be scanned at any time before the booking period begins without a time restriction.
- At Booking Period Start – The ticket becomes valid when the booking period begins. If it is scanned earlier, the scanner app will show that the ticket is not yet valid.
- Custom Time Before Booking Period – Enter a specific number of minutes before the booking period when the ticket should become valid for scanning.
For example, you could allow customers to check in starting 30 minutes before their scheduled booking time.
Ticket Scan End Time #
The Ticket Scan End Time controls how long a ticket remains valid after its booking period ends.
You can choose from:
- Valid Indefinitely After Booking Period – The ticket remains valid for scanning after the booking period ends without a time limit.
- At Booking Period End – The ticket stops being valid as soon as the booking period ends. If scanned afterward, the scanner app will show an error.
- Custom Time After Booking Period – Enter a specific number of minutes after the booking period ends during which the ticket can still be scanned.
For example, you could allow customers to check in up to 15 minutes after their scheduled booking period ends.
