Each event in TicketsCandy has its own payment settings that allow you to control how taxes, fees, and payment options are handled during checkout.
To access these settings:
- Open your Event Dashboard.
- Click Event Settings in the navigation menu.
- Select Payments.
The Payments page allows you to configure taxes, decide how processing and service fees are handled, and enable additional payment options for your event.
Taxes #
Use the Taxes section if you need to charge tax on ticket sales.
To enable taxes:
- Select Do you want to charge taxes?
- Enter the tax rate you want to apply.
- Enter the rate as a percentage. For example, enter 10 for a 10% tax rate.
The configured tax will then be applied to applicable ticket purchases.
Event organizers are responsible for determining the correct tax rate for their event and for reporting or remitting collected taxes as required.
Fees #
The Fees section controls how TicketsCandy and payment processing fees are handled for your event.
Pass Fees to the Ticket Buyer #
This option is enabled by default.
When fees are passed to the ticket buyer, the required service and payment processing fees are added to the customer’s purchase price. This allows you to receive the ticket price you originally set after the applicable fees are deducted from the transaction.
In some locations, pricing laws require fees to be included in the displayed ticket price. When this applies, the option to pass fees separately may not be available.
Absorb Fees #
Choose this option if you want to cover the applicable fees yourself instead of adding them to the customer’s purchase.
The fees will be deducted from the transaction amount, which means the amount you receive will be lower than the ticket price you set.
Custom Fees #
The Custom Fees option allows you to add an additional fee to your event.
Enter the percentage you want to charge, and the custom fee will be applied to applicable purchases.
Pay at the Door #
Enable Pay at the Door if you want customers to reserve tickets online and pay for them later at the event instead of paying during checkout.
When this option is available, customers can complete the booking process without making an online card payment.
A connected Square merchant account is still required to use this feature, even though the payment itself is collected in person.
This option can be useful for events that accept payment at the entrance or want to allow customers to reserve their place in advance.
