Each event in TicketsCandy has its own settings that control important event details, including visibility, booking options, dates, capacity, venue information, and organizer details.
To access these settings:
- Open your Event Dashboard.
- Click Event Settings in the navigation menu.
- Select General.
The General page contains the core settings for your event. You can update these settings at any time, including after your event has been published.
Event Visibility #
Use the Event Visibility setting to control whether your event can be viewed publicly.
You can choose to:
- Hide your event – Only you, as the account admin, can view the event.
- Make your event visible – Your event becomes accessible to the public and your attendees.
Event Name #
Use the Event Name field to update the name of your event.
The event name is used throughout TicketsCandy and may appear on your event page, tickets, checkout, and other event-related areas.
Booking Calendar #
The Booking Calendar setting controls whether customers need to select a booking date or time during checkout.
By default, the booking calendar is disabled.
Disable Booking Calendar #
Select Disable Booking Calendar if your event takes place on one specific date and time and customers do not need to choose from multiple dates or time slots.
When the booking calendar is disabled, your event works as a standard event with one start date and time and one end date and time.
Enable Booking Calendar #
Select Enable Booking Calendar if customers need to choose a specific booking date or time slot during checkout.
This option is useful for:
- Recurring events
- Timed-entry events
- Daily admissions
- Tours
- Classes
- Attractions
- Workshops
- Other events where customers need to choose when they will attend
When the booking calendar is enabled, you will also need to select a Booking Flow.
Booking Flow #
The booking flow controls the order in which customers select their tickets, dates, and times during checkout.
You can choose between two options.
Date & Time First #
Customers select a date and time first, then choose from the tickets available for that booking.
This option works best for simpler events that use one booking calendar and offer the same ticket options across the available dates and times.
Tickets First, Date & Time After (Multiple Calendars) #
Customers select their tickets first, then choose a booking date and time for each ticket.
This option is useful when different tickets need different schedules, dates, or time slots.
For example, you can use separate calendars for:
- Weekday and weekend tickets
- VIP tickets
- Tours
- Special access tickets
- Other ticket types with different schedules
If you use one schedule for all tickets, Date & Time First is usually the simpler option.
If different tickets need different schedules, use Tickets First, Date & Time After (Multiple Calendars).
For a detailed explanation of booking flows and custom calendars, see our Booking Calendar and Booking Flow Explained article.
Event Start and End Date #
The way your event start and end dates work depends on whether the booking calendar is enabled.
When the Booking Calendar Is Enabled #
- Event Start Date – The booking calendar becomes active on this date. Dates before the event start date will not be available.
- Event End Date – The booking calendar stops showing booking slots after this date. If no end date is set, available time slots can continue repeating based on your calendar setup.
When the Booking Calendar Is Disabled #
- Event Start Date – Defines when the event officially begins. This date appears in your event details and can appear on customer tickets. Ticket sales can still begin as soon as your event is published.
- Event End Date – Defines when the event ends. If no end date is set, only the event start date will be shown.
Time Zone #
Use the Time Zone setting to select the time zone for the location where your event takes place.
The selected time zone is used for event dates, booking times, ticket sales, and other time-based event activity. Make sure the correct time zone is selected so customers see the correct event and booking times.
Show Event Dates on Tickets #
This setting is available only when the booking calendar is disabled.
Use Show Event Dates on Tickets to choose whether your event’s start and end dates should appear on customer tickets.
This can be useful when you want the event schedule clearly displayed directly on each ticket.
Enable Seating Charts for an Event #
Enabling seating charts is the second step in setting up reserved seating for an event.
The complete setup includes:
- Create and Manage Seating Charts
- Enable Seating Charts for an Event
- Create a Seated Ticket
- Manage Seats and View Purchased Seats
The Enable Seating Charts setting is available when you create a new event or edit an existing event under Event Settings.
Turn on Enable Seating Charts to use reserved seating for the event. Once enabled, the Seating Chart section will appear.
Select a Seating Chart #
Use the Seating Chart dropdown to select the chart you want to connect to this event.
Seating charts are created separately at the account level, so you must first create a seating chart before you can select it here.
The selected chart becomes the seating layout for this event. In the next step, you will create Seated Tickets and connect them to categories within this chart. For example, you might create separate tickets for the left, center, and right sections and connect each ticket to its matching seating chart category.
Seating Charts for Multiple Dates and Time Slots #
The same seating chart layout can be used with different event schedules, including:
- A one-time event
- A multi-day event
- An event with multiple dates and time slots
Seats are reserved separately for each bookable event date or time.
For example, if your event takes place on two different dates, customers can select seats for the first date without affecting the availability of those same seats on the second date. The seating layout remains the same, but seat reservations are tracked separately for each booking date or time slot.
This allows the same venue layout to be reused throughout your event schedule.
Do Not Allow Single Empty Seats #
Enable Do Not Allow Single Empty Seats if you want to prevent customers from making a seat selection that leaves a single unoccupied seat between already reserved or selected seats.
This can help you use your available seating more efficiently and reduce isolated empty seats within rows.
Changing the Seating Chart #
Once you create a Seated Ticket for the event, you cannot change the seating chart connected to that event.
Seated tickets are connected to categories within a specific seating chart. Changing the chart would break those connections.
If you need to use a different seating chart:
- Delete all Seated Tickets from the event.
- Return to Event Settings.
- Select a different seating chart.
After the new chart is selected, you can create new Seated Tickets and connect them to its categories.
Disabling Seating Charts #
You also cannot turn off Enable Seating Charts while the event has any Seated Tickets.
Each Seated Ticket depends on the seating chart and its categories. To disable seating charts for the event, first delete all Seated Tickets. Once no Seated Tickets remain, you can return to Event Settings and turn off the Seating Charts.
Once you have selected and saved your seating chart, continue to the next step: Create a Seated Ticket.
Shared Capacity for Event Tickets #
The Shared Capacity setting allows you to create one total ticket limit that can be shared across multiple ticket types.
Any ticket assigned to the shared capacity pulls from the same total availability, regardless of which ticket type is purchased.
For example, if the shared capacity is set to 500, all tickets connected to that capacity can collectively sell up to 500 admissions.
After enabling shared capacity, you must assign the shared capacity within each ticket’s settings.
Only tickets assigned to the shared capacity will count against the shared total.
Venue Name and Address Details #
Use the Venue Name and Address Details fields to enter or update the location of your event.
This information can appear on your event page and customer tickets so attendees know where the event takes place.
Event Organizer #
The Event Organizer section allows you to update the organizer name and contact information associated with the event.
This information can appear on your event page and gives attendees a way to identify or contact the event organizer.
