# Manage Tickets

To create and manage tickets for your event, navigate to your **Event Dashboard** and select **Tickets**. Then, click on the "Create Ticket" button in the top right corner of the page. This will open a new page where you can set up and customize ticket details.

## Ticket Types

When creating a new ticket, you’ll first need to select a **ticket type**, which determines how the ticket behaves and what it’s used for. Each type serves a unique purpose and affects how availability and access are managed.

> This article focuses on the **“Ticket”** type - standard admission tickets used for event entry.

To learn more about the other ticket types, click on their names below:

- [**Ticket**](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/tickets/) - Standard admission for a specific date or time slot. Ideal for one-time entry.
- [**Pass**](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/passes/) - Designed for recurring or extended access, such as weekly, monthly, or annual passes.
- [**Addon Item**](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/addons/) - Supplemental items or services (e.g., merchandise, rentals, upgrades) that do not count toward time slot capacity.
- [**Donation**](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/donations/) - Allows attendees to make a voluntary contribution. Useful for fundraisers or support options; does not affect time slot limits.
- [**Seated Ticket**](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/seated-tickets/) - Admission connected to a category within your event's seating chart, allowing customers to select and reserve specific seats.

**Important**: The ticket type cannot be changed after the ticket is created, so select carefully.

## Ticket Name

This is the name of the ticket, which will be visible to customers on your ticketing page and on e-tickets after purchase.

## Ticket Description

You can provide additional details about the ticket in the **Ticket Description** field.

- **Default Behavior**: The description is initially hidden to save space, with an option to expand.
- **Always Expanded**: Check the **"Description Always Expanded"** box to make the description permanently visible.

## Ticket Price

Set the price for the ticket under **Ticket Price**. If you're offering a discounted rate, enter the reduced price in the **Discount Price** field.

## Quantity Available

**Quantity Available** controls how many tickets can be sold for this ticket type.

### Individual Capacity

Specify the total number of tickets available for this ticket. Leave this blank if the ticket should be unlimited (for example, for ongoing events like museums).

### Shared Capacity

Connect this ticket to the shared capacity set in the event’s [Shared Capacity settings](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/event-settings/#7-toc-title). Multiple tickets can use the same shared capacity, and all purchases will count toward the same total limit.

When Shared Capacity is selected, a new field will appear: **“Maximum Quantity for This Ticket Within Shared Capacity.”** This lets you optionally set a limit for this specific ticket.

- Leave this field blank to use only the shared capacity with no individual limit.
- Enter a number to also limit this ticket by its own maximum quantity.

In this case, the ticket will stop selling when either the shared capacity or the individual limit is reached, whichever comes first.

## Tickets Per Order

Control how many tickets a customer can purchase in a single order by setting minimum and maximum limits under **Tickets Per Order (Min-Max)**.

## Start Sale On / End Sale On

- **Start Sale On**: The date the ticket becomes available for sale. Leave blank to activate immediately.
- **End Sale On**: The date ticket sales end. Leave blank to keep the ticket available indefinitely.

## Calendar

The **Calendar** option lets you attach a ticket to a specific booking calendar, which controls the dates, time slots, and capacities available for that ticket.

- This option is available only when the **Booking Calendar** is enabled for the event.
- If the event uses the [**Tickets First, Date & Time After (Multiple Calendars)** booking flow](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/booking-calendar-and-booking-flow-explained/), you can select which calendar should be connected to the ticket.
- If the event uses the [**Date & Time First** booking flow](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/booking-calendar-and-booking-flow-explained/), the Calendar option will not appear in the ticket settings. In this flow, all tickets automatically use the **Default Calendar**, and additional custom calendars cannot be created.
- Custom calendars and time slots can be created on the [**Time Slots**](https://help.ticketscandy.com/kb/time-slots/) page.

## Ticket Icon

Add a visual element to your ticket by selecting a **Ticket Icon**, which will appear next to the ticket name on the ticketing widget.

## Multiple Redemptions

The **Multiple Redemptions** setting allows a single ticket to be used more than once during its valid booking period—perfect for events offering repeat access.

- **Total Scan Limit**: Define the maximum number of times a ticket can be scanned in total. Leave blank for unlimited uses during its validity period.
- **Daily Scan Limit**: Restrict the ticket to one scan per calendar day.

## Display Sold Out

Enable the Display Sold Out option to keep sold-out tickets visible on your event page instead of automatically hiding them.

When activated, tickets that have reached their sales limit will be marked as "Sold Out", allowing attendees to see which options were available but are no longer for sale.

This feature helps create urgency, builds demand, and reassures potential buyers about ticket popularity.

## Show Items Left

Displays a badge next to the ticket showing how many items are still available on your public ticket list. This helps create urgency and encourages faster purchases.

When enabled, the badge will always be shown if the ticket has a set quantity.

### Show Only When Below

Set a threshold for when the badge should appear.

Enter a number to show the badge only when the remaining quantity is equal to or below this value.

- If the ticket quantity is unlimited, the badge will not be displayed.
- If the item is connected to shared capacity, the badge will display “Limited Availability” instead of the exact number. This is because the remaining capacity is shared across multiple tickets, and the available quantity can change based on purchases from any of those tickets, making an exact per-ticket count unreliable.

## Cannot Be Sold Individually

Use this setting to require tickets to be sold alongside others (e.g., children’s tickets sold only with adult tickets).

## Hide This Ticket

Select **"Hide This Ticket"** to prevent the ticket from appearing on the widget while keeping it saved for future use.

## Save Ticket

Once all fields are filled out, click **Create Ticket** in the bottom-right corner to save your ticket.
